Everything You Need To Know About Apres Gel-X Nail Extensions

Out with the old and in with the new! Celebrity’s everywhere from Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner to Ariana Grande and Halsey are ditching acrylics, but what could they possibly be doing instead? The answer is Gel-X nail extensions.

What are Gel-X nail extensions?

Gel-X nail extensions are a nail extension made out of the same components as gel polish. It's an already shaped full soft gel nail tip that your tech applies to the natural nail. The extensions come is various sizes and shapes and cover the entire natural nail from cuticle to the tip.

After your nail tech preps your nails in the same way they would a traditional gel manicure, they then apply the gel tip. They apply this to your nail by adding a thick soft gel polish onto the back of the extension and cure it under a UV light. This UV light is the same light they use to cure a gel manicure. From there your nail tech can now change anything about the shape and length of your extensions before adding your normal gel polish.

How do they differ from acrylics?

There are plenty of benefits of Gel-X compared to Acrylics. They do not cause the damage to your nail beds, that acrylics do— the tips are lightweight, have a flat natural look, there are no strong fumes, strong odors, harsh chemicals, or heavy filing.

How long do they last?

If taken care of correctly they can last anywhere from 3-4 weeks.

How are they removed?

Aprés Gel-X are soft gel so they completely soak-off like a regular gel manicure, intense buffing isn't required. However, like a regular gel polish manicure, we recommend getting gel extensions removed by a professional, so that damage is less of a possibility.
